“Deadpool & Wolverine,” the third installment in the “Merc with a Mouth‘s” movie franchise, is now streaming on Disney+.
Starring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, the film earned more than a billion dollars at the box office, according to the Walt Disney Company, making it the highest grossing R-rated film of all time.

The streaming service announced the date in a sneaky, blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moment toward the end of a teaser trailer that announced upcoming 2024-2025 Marvel Studios’ titles launching exclusively on Disney+.

What is the storyline of ‘Deadpool and Wolverine’?
Wade Wilson (Ryan Reynolds), a.k.a. Deadpool, is depressed, according to a synopsis by Showtimes. He’s been dumped by girlfriend Vanessa (Morena Baccarin), rejected by the Avengers and is now selling used cars. Things are looking grim until an agent for the Time Variance Authority named Mr. Paradox (Matthew Macfadyen) asks Deadpool to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe and help safeguard the multiverse.
Deadpool travels to another timeline and teams up with Wolverine (Hugh Jackman), who turns out to be more surly and cranky than he expected, writes Showtimes. The pair’s mission is to save Deadpool’s universe before it’s destroyed by traveling from one place to another, some of which are filled with debris from other 20th Century Fox films.

Disney saw similar success this year with “Inside Out 2,” another billion-dollar earner that was rated PG. The Walt Disney Company has touted itself as the only studio to release two billion-dollar grossing films in a single year.
