PM Modi advised that there should be a PhD on the 100-year journey of Hindustan Times, which would be a service to society. He suggested that a university, either in India or abroad, should have a Hindustan Times chair.

He added that in these 100 years, Hindustan Times has earned trust, which will be valuable for future generations. He also mentioned that the exhibition on the 100-year journey of Hindustan Times has a profound impact on people, and with good commentary, it should be made digital and made available to school students.

Prime Minister Modi concluded his speech by saying that Hindustan Times’ 100 years of vast experience will contribute to India’s development. He also lauded the HT journey exhibition at the venue.

PM Modi said that in 2014, the country’s Union budget was around 16 lakh crore, and today it stands at 48 lakh crore rupees. He mentioned that the capital expenditure is more than ₹11 lakh crore and is being spent on new schools, research facilities, and the rail sector and that public money is also being saved.

PM Modi said, “There was a time when LPG gas was a dream for many, and the government used to debate over this issue. Our government prioritised providing gas connections to every household. In 2014, there were 14 crore gas connections, and today there are more than 30 crore. Now, we never hear about a shortage of gas.”

PM Modi said, “In our country, we took on the mission of building toilets. This scheme provides dignity and security. It has not only helped improve sanitation but has also boosted the economy and created jobs for people.”

Prime Minister Modi said that the governments after independence did not instil the energy needed for taking risks, but in the last 10 years, the youth have developed a strong risk-taking ability.

He said that the country now has over 1.25 lakh registered startups, and the youth are eager to make the nation proud. He also mentioned that India today has at least 10 crore lakhpati Didis.

PM Modi said, “Our government has set a clear purpose. We are staying away from vote-bank politics and are working with the mantra of ‘progress for the people, by the people.’ We aim to make India a developed nation, and the people of India have entrusted us with their confidence. In this era of social media, where there is misinformation and disinformation, our government stands firm and resolute.”

Prime Minister Modi said that in its 100-year journey, Hindustan Times has witnessed 25 years of colonial rule and 75 years of independence. During these 100 years, the force that has shaped India’s destiny and guided its path is the wisdom of the citizens of India, he added.

During the HT Leadership Summit, Prime Minister Modi said that he saw the reports of the 26/11 (Mumbai terror attack) today.

He remarked that during that time, terrorism had made people feel unsafe in India’s cities. “However, times have changed, and now terrorists are the ones who feel unsafe in their own homes,” PM Modi added
