Hyderabad: Two persons, including a murder accused, killed themselves using pestles and sticks at Nagilla village in Madgul mandal in Ranga Reddy district after a quarrel between them on Sunday.
The deceased have been identified as Barkam Yadaiah, 54, of Nagilla village in Madgul mandal and his brother-in-law Gaddam Srinu, 40, of Medipally village in Madgul mandal, according to police. The police said Yadaiah was sentenced to life imprisonment in connection with the murder of his wife Sugunamma in January 2014.
He was serving his sentence in Charlapally prison for about eight years but due to his bad mental condition, he underwent treatment at Erragadda mental hospital. Two years ago, Yadaiah was released from prison and since then he has been living alone at his home.
Yadaiah had two daughters and a son. Following the death of Sugunamma, Yadaiah’s elder sister Pushpa was taking care of his son Shiva. On Sunday, Srinu, who is working as a mason, came to Nagilla village to attend a ritual in his relative Barkam Chandraiah’s home.
As Yadaiah was staying alone in the same village, Srinu then thought of talking to him and met him at his house. While talking for a while, a quarrel broke out between them and in a fit of rage Yadaiah beat Srinu on his head and other body parts with a pestle and stick.
As a result Srinu died on the spot. Yadaiah, who also suffered severe injuries after Srinu beat him with a stick, died. The incident came to light when villagers noticed the bodies and informed former Sarpanche Bojja Rameshwar Reddy, who alerted the police. The police registered a case under provisions of BNS and the bodies were handed over to relatives after an autopsy.
