Payal Kapadia has made India proud once again, as her film All That We Imagine As Light has earned two Golden Globe nominations this year. One nomination is for Best Director, and the other is for Best Motion Picture in a Non-English Language.
Chhaya Kadam, one of the leading artists of the film, is extremely proud of Payal and feels that her hard work has paid off. Speaking to Etimes, Chaya Kadam said, “I am so happy with the nomination, but I am even more happy for Payal. I think she is the first Indian director to get nominated for the Golden Globe. Her hard work of so many years is reaping good results. Also, it is not just for Payal, but a win for Indian cinema and a proud moment for Indians.”
Incidentally, Chhaya is also part of ‘Laapataaa Ladies‘, which has been nominated from India for the Oscars. When asked if she thinks ‘All That We Imagine As Light’ should have been nominated from India, Chhaya agreed but added, “I would have been happy had that been nominated from India, but for me personally, both are my babies, and I cannot differentiate between the two. I am happy for what both films have achieved.”
