The Mahayuti alliance secured a landslide victory in the November 20 Assembly electionwinning 230 of the 288 seats. The BJP emerged as the largest party with 132 seats, followed by Shiv Sena with 57 and the NCP with 41. Despite this success, Cabinet formation faced initial hurdles, including Mr. Shinde’s hesitation to accept the Deputy Chief Minister post. The issue was resolved after extensive discussions, with the Shiv Sena securing prominent roles for its leaders.

Addressing a press conference after 39 legislators of Maha Yuti took oath as ministers as part of the expansion of the cabinet on the eve of the winter session of the legislature, Fadnavis said Maha Yuti allies have agreed to conduct a “performance audit” of ministers during their tenure.
