As Allu Arjun’s Pushpa 2- The Rule crossed the US $ 13 million mark, it is now time to focus on another big film waiting in the aisles, for its chance in the sun. And that is Global Star Ram Charan’s first release post the super success of RRR. Ram Charan is all set to release his film Game Changer directed by Shankarand co-starring Kiara Advani and SJ Suryah on the 10th of January.
While advance booking in India will open closer to the release date, it has already gone on sale in the United States of America, and from Tuesday’s collection of Rs 51 lakh, the sale has jumped to Rs 85 lakh- a jump of over 65 %, having sold more than 3500 tickets. The film has also seen a jump in the number of screens and number of shows since yesterday.
Allu Arjun’s Pushpa 2 has outperformed Ram Charan’s upcoming film in pre-release ticket sales by a significant margin. Telugu cinema has seen remarkable growth, driven by blockbuster films featuring Prabhas, such as the Baahubali series, Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire, and Kalki 2898 AD. This surge has positively impacted other major releases like NTR Jr’s Devara Part 1 and Pushpa 2. In contrast, Game Changer has currently secured fewer locations and shows. However, with its release date approaching, additional screens and locations are expected to be added, boosting its market presence.
Game Changer is Shankar’s first release since the debacle of Indian 2, its sequel to 1997 superhit film Indian with Kamal Hassan. The film did decent numbers, but didn’t match up with the kind of money put into it. Based on its performance, it is being rumoured that Indian 3 would be a direct to OTT release, but things might change if Game Changer does well.
