Winter session of Parliament Day 20 Live Updates: Rajya Sabha deputy chairman on Thursday rejected the impeachment notice given by the opposition seeking the removal of Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar. Around 60 opposition members had signed the notice seeking the removal of Dhankhar from his post on December 10, alleging that they (the opposition) did not have trust in him and he was “biased”. Meanwhile, After the scuffle that broke out on Parliament premises between INDIA and BJP MPs, Rajya Sabha Leader of Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge wrote a letter to the Lok Sabha Chair alleging that he was pushed on the stairs as BJP MPs attempted to obstruct his entry. Meanwhile, the two injured BJP MPs have been taken to the RML Hospital as the party continues to accuse Rahul Gandhi for “using force and violence” against them.
Rahul Gandhi vs BJP MP outside Parliament: BJP MP Pratap Chandra Sarangi alleged that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi pushed an MP while entering the Parliament, who in turn fell on Sarangi and injured him. Sarangi claimed that he was standing near the stairs when Rahul Gandhi came and pushed another MP onto him. The BJP MP was seen being taken out of the premises on a wheelchair after being injured. Meanwhile, Rahul Gandhi said that it were the BJP MPs who tried to prevent him from going inside the Parliament, and are deflecting from the real issue.
JPC announced to review ‘One Nation One Election’ Bill: The Joint Parliamentary Committee to examine ‘One Nation, One Election’ Bill is slated to have 21 members from the Lok Sabha and 10 members from the Rajya Sabha. The panel includes Congress leaders Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and Manish Tewari, NCP’s Supriya SuleTMC’s Kalyan Banerjee and BJP’s PP Chaudhary, Bansuri Swaraj and Anurag Singh Thakur. If Meghwal’s motion is approved, the JPC will review the Constitution Amendment Bill on ‘One Nation, One Election’ and the Bill further to amend the Government of Union Territories Act, 1963.
