Sukumar, Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandanna unleashed wildfire at the box office with Pushpa 2- The Rule. The film continued its magic even in the second week, despite collections falling by more than 63 %, but the film managed to dwarf many past releases to become the second biggest hit of Indian Cinema and biggest hit of Hindi Cinema.
Pushpa 2 minted Rs 725.8 crore in the first week and in the second week the film added another Rs 264.9 crore to its kitty, taking the two week total to Rs 990.7 crore as per Sacnilk. With this, the film is just Rs 10 crore away from making a smashing entry into the elusive Rs 1000 crore club and needs another Rs 40 crore to displace Prabhas-Rana Dagubbati – S S Rajamouli’s Baahubali 2- The Conclusion as the biggest film of Indian Cinema, a record which Baahubali 2 held for more than 8 years.
Of the total collection of Pushpa 2, Rs 621.6 crore came from the Hindi version. In the past week not only did it beat Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao starrer and Amar Kaushik directed Stree 2 as the biggest Hindi film, it also became the first film in Hindi to cross the Rs 600 crore mark. Trade Analyst Komal Nahta shares that the difference between Hindi collection and Telugu collection is only because of the capping of ticket prices in the Telugu belt, and there are no such restrictions on Hindi belt.
The makers have announced the third installment of the film in the climax of the second part. The third part has been titled as Pushpa 3- The Rampage, and it will be another 2-3 years before the film goes on floors. It has become the 6th biggest Indian hit with a box office collection of US $ 13.45 million beating Aamir Khan’s Dangal which had collected US $12.39 crore.
