‘Bandish Bandits’ star Sheeba Chadha recently talked about presence of ageism in Bollywood. She also opened up about how social media is a scary phenomenon.
In an interview with Bollywood Bubble, Sheeba highlighted that ageism is a significant issue, both in society and the film industry. She emphasised that it isn’t just about appearances but also about the various factors tied to it, pointing out that it’s an important issue that deserves serious attention.
The actress expressed that social media is a daunting force, acknowledging both its benefits and its powerful impact. She believes that the long-term effects of social media will become increasingly clear, and it has fundamentally changed humanity, both internally and externally, in ways that are irreversible.She further mentioned that while she isn’t actively involved in social media, she feels there should be more space and empathy in the digital space. She acknowledged that actors benefit from it, but emphasized the importance of respecting the boundaries and dignity of others.
The senior actress also observed that today’s actors seem to share a similar look, almost as if there’s a common formula. Reflecting on the ’90s, she noted how things have changed, not due to anyone’s fault, but because the industry and social media have evolved. She believes this shift has made the creative field more challenging for many.
