NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday launched a sharp attack on past Congress-led governmentsaccusing them of delaying critical development projects for decades and failing to deliver effective governance.
Addressing a public rally, PM Modi accused the grand old party for neglecting water conservation efforts and failing to address the need of farmers, especially in regions like Bundelkhand.
PM Modi claimed that while Babasaheb Ambedkar was instrumental in shaping India’s water conservation policies, Congress consistently overlooked his contributions. “After independence, Babasaheb’s vision guided India’s water resources and conservation efforts. Even today, the Central Water Commission exists because of his initiatives, but Congress never gave him due credit,” he said.

The Prime Minister contrasted Congress’ governance with BJP’s, accusing Congress of being disconnected from the needs of the people. “Congress believed governance was their birthright but failed to deliver. They were experts in making announcements without benefiting the people,” PM said.
He alleged that past Congress governments delayed projects by 35-40 years even after foundation stones were laid. “Governance and Congress do not go together,” he added further.
Highlighting BJP’s initiatives, PM Modi pointed to the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana and Madhya Pradesh’s Ladli Behna Yojana, which have brought financial benefits to farmers and women. He also credited BJP with advancing river-linking projects to address water scarcity.
Reflecting on former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s legacy on his 100th birth anniversary, PM Modi praised Vajpayee’s contributions to India’s development. He announced the initiation of over 1,100 Atal Gram Seva Sadans in Madhya Pradesh, stressing their role in rural development.
“Atal ji’s vision has inspired generations, including activists like me. His contribution to the country’s progress will always be remembered,” he said.
PM Modi also highlighted the trust people place in BJP governments. “The BJP has been re-elected at the Centre for a third term, and in Madhya Pradesh, people continue to choose us because of our commitment to good governance,” he said.
He pointed out that BJP’s success lies in its focus on public welfare and ensuring government schemes benefit the people.
