28-yr-old Held for Killing his Father

Hyderabad: The Shamirpet police on Thursday arrested 28-year-old Alakunta Narsimha for the alleged murder of his father, A. Hanumanthu, during a quarrel over an aquarium.

On January 14, the accused’s mother, Peddamma, and his sister, Yaddamma, had a fight over a sari during which an aquarium was accidentally broken. Following this, Narsimha, in a drunken condition, accused Yadamma of intentionally breaking the aquarium.

He then assaulted her with a pestle. When Hanmanthu attempted to intervene, Narsimha struck him with the pestle and a brick.

The complainant’s daughter, Yadamma, called an ambulance whose staff declared Hanmanthu dead. Police said Narsimha was married but was living separately due to disputes.

2 Bikes, Furniture Gutted in Hotel Fire

Hyderabad: A fire was reported at Kanchu Kota Restaurant in Addagutta, KPHB Colony, at 3.30 am on Thursday, police said. There were no casualties, two bikes and hotel furniture were gutted. The complaint was received from hotel owner Naagam Srinivas Reddy, who was alerted by locals. The fire department reached the spot and extinguished the fire.

23-yr-old Held for 24 Burglaries

Hyderabad: The Shamshabad CCS, along with the Shadnagar police, on Thursday arrested 23-year-Koni Reddy Vanshra, suspected in 24 cases of house break-in. Police said he had been previously detained under the PD Act. He also faced cases of vandalism of places of worship. Police were acting on a complaint regarding vandalism at a place of worship on January 14.

Police Arrest Four Persons for Burglary

Hyderabad: The Jeedimetla police, along with the Balanagar CCS, arrested four persons for burglary, Balanagar DCP K. Suresh said on Thursday. The accused, Syed Feroz, Mohammed Alam, Aslam Khan and Mohammed Gafoor, were arrested based on a complaint by scrap business owner Gopireddy Balakrishna. Stolen property worth Rs.18.64 lakh was recovered from the accused, police said. The loot included a bike, copper wires and other items weighing approximately two tonnes, missing.

Cops Hunt Man Accused of Assault

Hyderabad: The Adibatla police were looking for a man who attempted to sexually assault his minor relative at a hotel in Turkayamjal. Upon receiving information, Adibatla police formed teams investigate the incident and apprehend the accused.

Malkajgiri Cops Raise Funds to Support Staff

Hyderabad: The Malkajgiri police station staff joined hands to support the family of Tattari Anjaneyulu, who died of electrocution on January 6 at his pani puri cart. Anjaneyulu’s wife, Yadamma, works as an outsourcing staff member at the police station.

On the initiative of inspector B. Satyanarayana, the staff collected `1.06 lakh and handed over the sum to Yadamma on Thursday.

Two Students Die by Suicide

Hyderabad: In separate incidents in the Rachakonda police limits, two students committed died by suicide in Jawaharnagar and Abdullapurmet limits.

The 17-year-old victim was said to be undergoing treatment for migrane. She complained of headache and went to her room to rest. When they family went to check on her, she was found dead.

An engineering student died by suicide in Abdullahpurmet. The deceased Aeddula Bhanu Prakash, 19, was a hostel resident at Abdullapurmet. Police said he had returned to his room after attending the college in the morning session. His was found by the other hostellers on the terrace.

The hostel management immediately informed the police and the parents. It is suspected that Prakash was involved in online gaming and betting.
