Deepika Padukone officially returned to work after her maternity leave yesterday, although briefly, when she walked the ramp for Sabyasachi mukherjee during his 25th anniversary show.
Opening the show, Deepika stunned in a monochromatic white ensemble featuring a tailored pant, top, and trench coat. The look was elevated with opulent layered necklaces, including a ruby-and-diamond choker and cross-pendant, paired with a stack of matching bracelets atop black leather gloves. Completing the ensemble was a headband, embodying vintage sophistication and modern grace.
Fans were quick to crown her with titles like “The ultimate queen,” “Mother is mothering,” and “Iconic.” Some even drew parallels to the legendary Rekha, solidifying the moment as one of 2025’s most talked-about.
However, this isn’t the first time that Rekha and Deepika have established a connection.
In a Vogue Arabia appearance in 2023, Rekha was asked about the new crop of actors, and she was all praise about them. She said, “Today there is an avalanche of young talent with extraordinary skills and I am thoroughly impressed by their debut performances. And it gives me great pleasure that I am here to witness their rise. While appearing for the same magazine, Deepika too, went gaga over the diva and said, “She can effortlessly captivate an entire audience with just a glance, and her performances are a masterclass in acting.”
Coming back to Deepika’s ramp walk, this appearance not only marked Deepika’s return to work, but also coincided with the seventh anniversary of her iconic role as Rani Padmavati in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmaavat, released on January 25, 2018. Over the years, Deepika has showcased a deep connection with Sabyasachi’s designs, embodying elegance and timeless beauty with every look.
Deepika and Ranveer Singh became proud parents to their baby daughter Two Padukone Singhwho was born on September 8, 2024. The couple celebrated their first Christmas with their daughter. They had revealed their daughter’s name, Dua Padukone Singh, during the Diwali celebrations.
