Nizamabad: Passengers in Nizamabad and Kamareddy districts are struggling due to limited train availability during peak hours, with high demand for services to Hyderabad, Mumbai, and other key routes. Despite 50 trains passing through Nizamabad railway station daily, no direct express trains originate from the station.
Businessman B. Chandrasekhar pointed out that a train could cut travel time to Hyderabad to 2.5 hours, compared to over four hours by road.
Nizamabad serves as a crucial link between North and South India, with recent electrification completed. However, the absence of a double railway line on the Secunderabad-Nizamabad-Nanded route has led to restricted services.
While special trains run from Karimnagar to Mumbai during festivals, post-festival demand is met only by Devgiri Express. Commuters are urging South Central Railway to introduce an additional train from Nizamabad or Karimnagar to Mumbai, as it remains the shortest route from North Telangana.
Passengers are now demanding direct express trains from Nizamabad/Basar to Hyderabad, additional Mumbai-bound train post-festivals and permission for Bodhan passengers to board Tirupati-bound Rayalaseema Express.
The key concerns:
• No direct express train from Nizamabad to Hyderabad, forcing commuters to rely on Ajanta and Devgiri Express, which operate at inconvenient hours.
• Rayalaseema Express, bound for Tirupati, starts from Bodhan but does not allow passengers to board there, frustrating locals in Bodhan and nearby Maharashtra.
• Highway congestion on NH-44 and in Hyderabad makes road travel unreliable.
