Nestled amidst the lush green forests of Tirumala, Ramakrishna Theertham holds a revered place among the numerous holy water bodies scattered across the Seshachalam hills. While mythology mentions 3.50 crore Theerthams in the Seshachalam hills, the Saptagiri Theerthalu—the seven principal Theerthams—Srivari Pushkarini, Kumaradhara, Thumburu Theertham, Ramakrishna, Akasha Ganga, Papavinasanam, and Pandava Theertham—are particularly significant. Bathing in these divine waters is believed to cleanse devotees of their sins and bestow spiritual elevation.
Celebrated annually in the auspicious month of Makara, Ramakrishna Theertha Mukkoti is observed on the full moon day coinciding with the Pushyami star. Located approximately six miles from the hill temple of Lord Venkateswara, the Theertham is closely associated with Sage Sri Ramakrishna, who, as per the Skanda Purana, performed intense penance on Venkatadri and sanctified the waters through his devotion. It is believed that the sage created this Theertham for his own spiritual purification.
On the festival day, Tirumala temple priests lead a grand procession through the temple streets, carrying sacred offerings of flowers and fruits, accompanied by the resonant sounds of traditional instruments. Devotees eagerly participate in the special pujas and rituals conducted in honour of the deities Sri Ramachandra Murthy and Sri Krishna, whose idols are enshrined at Ramakrishna Theertham. TTD has been making all necessary arrangements to ensure a smooth and devotional experience for the devotees.
