Hyderabad:Dr Shahnawaz, the wildlife veterinarian from Nehru Zoological Park who suffered injuries after a gaur he was attempting to tranquilise charged at him on Thursday, is reported to be safe and out of danger, but suffering from some severe bruises and muscle injuries.
He was admitted to a private hospital in LB Nagar after the gaur charged at him. A forest department official said Dr Shahnawaz was in the ICU for observation on account of severe pain from muscle injuries, including one on his hip.
The Gaur, whose weight was 940 kg – found after its carcass was weighed on Friday- charged at him twice and the second time, he got slammed against a palm tree. Fortunately, there were no fractures or serious wounds and the injuries were muscular, the official said.
