Sandeep, son of former Delhi chief minister Sheila Dixit, lost the New Delhi seat. Still, he got his revenge by eating in to Kejriwal’s votes and eventually helping BJP’s Parvesh Verma in a big contest against Arvind kejriwal.

Kejriwal lost New Delhi seat by 4,089 votes to BJP’s Parvesh Verma. On the other hand, Dixit managed to get a little over 4,568 votes.

The result brought it to a full circle as Arvind Kejriwal, who became a giant slayer by defeating Sheila Dixit, lost his New Delhi seat after a decade.
The historic rivalry in New Delhi had witnessed Sheila Dikshit, the three-time chief minister of Delhi, losing to Kejriwal in 2013 and 2015. For Sandeep, this election was personal, finally an opportunity to reclaim his family’s legacy.

The battle of New Delhi became high-stakes as BJP fielded Parvesh Verma, son of former CM Sahib Singh Verma against Dixit and Kejriwal.
The AAP chief, who came into politics and swept Delhi elections a decade ago had made waves at the cost of Sheila Dixit, accusing her of corruption, especially the Commonwealth Games held in Delhi.
Kejriwal gained prominence by defeating Sheila Dikshit in the 2013 Assembly polls by over 25,000 votes. He retained the seat in 2015, defeating the BJP candidate with a margin of over 31,000 votes, though his victory margin to 21,000 votes in the 2020 polls.

Throughout the election campaign, Dixit had focussed his attack on Kejriwal accusing him of rebranding and implementing Sheila Dixit’s schemes.
