I’m eligible for a company car with a maximum budget of Rs 11.50 lakh (all inclusive). I’ve been using a Maruti Swift Diesel, and I’m keen to replace it with a fun, quick, turbo-petrol SUV-ish car. I’m confused between the manual versions of Skoda Kylaq Signature and Maruti Fronx Delta Plus Turbo.
Hemant Presence, Pula’s
Autocar India says: The newer Skoda Kylaq feels more solidly built, and has a slightly more accommodating boot compared to the Fronx. The Kylaq Signature variant is better equipped with cruise control, side and curtain airbags, a tyre pressure monitor and a driver armrest, being the key features over the Fronx Delta Plus. However, its long travel clutch feels a touch cumbersome, especially in bumper-to-bumper conditions, and its 6-speed manual gearbox isn’t buttery smooth to operate.
Besides having lighter controls, the Maruti Fronx’s turbo-petrol engine delivers effortless performance, while feeling smoother and more refined than the Skoda’s 1.0 TSI. What’s also nice is that its suspension feels more absorbent at low speeds and it isn’t too far behind in terms of high-speed stability either. All things considered, besides being fun to drive, the Fronx Turbo will be easier to drive, hence it is our pick of the two. Notably, Maruti is offering attractive discounts on the Fronx to further sweeten the deal.
