Saif Ali Khan had got atacked on January 16, at his house in Mumbai. The actor suffered a major injury as a 2.5 inch knife was recovered from his spine. The actor is back home but many raised questions as to how the actor could just walk and recover so soon after a near fatal incident. Saif has finally opened up on the details about what had actually happened. Here’s a detailed timeline on what had exactly happened and how!
What exactly happened
At midnight at around 2 am on January 16, a househelp rushed to Saif’s room and said that there’s an intruder. When Saif came to see, this guy was in Limit‘s room with a knife and he asked for money. This guy had a hexa blade over Jeh’s bed with two knives in his hand. The actor pulled him down and they had a fight. That’s when he stabbed him. The attacker had two knives and Said was bare-handed, bare-footed in a kurta pyjama. The actor revealed in an interview with Times Of India that he was praying that someone would help him. That’s when his househelp Geeta pulled him and shoved him away. At that point, Said was feeling his right leg going numb, probably because of the injury in the spine.
How did the attacker escape
Saif and his househelp Geeta managed to escape from the room and locked the door from outside. They thought he was inside but the attacker managed to escape from the drainpipe into the kids’ bathroom. That’s how he had also entered.
Kareena took Jeh to Karisma’s house while Saif rushed to the hospital
Many people are questioning Kareena’s absence and why she did not take him to the hospital. The truth is, the actress was out for dinner but came home early, chatted with Saif and slept. It was nearly at around 2 am when the househelp informed them about the intruder. Kareena was screaming to take Jeh out of the room, and she took him out. Saif and Kareena thought that the intruder is still in the house and it won’t be safe to keep Jeh there. Hence, she suggested that while Saif goes to the hospital, she would take Jeh to Karisma’s house so he is safe.
Taking Saif to Lilavati in a rickshaw with Taimur accompanying him
People largely questioned why there was no driver at Saif’s house. The actor revealed that they have drivers but nobody stays at their house in the night, they have their homes. The actor revealed that he would have driven the car himself but he couldn’t find the keys. Thus, Kareena was screaming for help and making calls. That’s when the rickshaw guy heard it and came for help. Taimur wanted to accompany his father and Saif allowed as he thought, just looking at his face, would keep him feeling positive and motivated. The actor revealed that Taimur asked him, ‘Are you going to die’ and he said ‘no’. The actor also added that God forbid, even if something happens, it would be good to have Taimur by his side. Thus, Saif went to the hospital with his househelp Hari and Taimur.
Saif walked into the hospital
The actor walked into the hospital and did not take a wheelchair or stretcher, as described by the doctors. It took a while for them to realise that it was a celebrity. It took them a minute to sink in that a movie star has been stabbed. The actor was immediately rushed for an MRI and then they took the right call of bringing in a neurosurgeon, thus Dr Nitin Dange was rushed to the hospital immediately. If the knife had gone into the spine further by just one more milimetre, the actor would have been paralysed. That’s how close it was. Saif was then taken to surgery which went on for 6 hourse. The spinal cord itself took 2.5 hours. The actor was on anesthesia for more than 5 hours. With someone who has suffered such neck injury, Saif said he’s shocked about being alive.
Reaction of the family
Kareena is doing fine and has holded up strong, revealed Saif. However, she’s concerned about the security now and that something like this should never happen again. Jeh now says that while Abba (Saif) saved his life, Geeta saved Abba’s life. Meanwhile, Taimur is concered about security. Meanwhile, his children Sara and Ibrahim were extremely emotional. Ibrahim was more emotional than he has ever been and is spending a lot of time with his father. Saif’s mom Sharmila was very protective of him and even held his hand and sang him a lullaby which had happened last when he was a baby.
Saif’s recovery
Saif was discharged from the hospital after 5 days. The actor has recovered wonderfully and is currently experiencing some muscular pain. He feels some pain if he stands for too long. The actor should be recovering completely in the next few days.
