After delivering understated performances in films like Ghoomer and I Want to Talk, Abhishek bachchan is back with his latest film, Be Happy. In the film, he plays a single parent to his daughter, Inayat, and showcases the lengths he goes to in order to fulfill her dreams. The film features legendary actors like Nassar and Johnny Lever and is directed by choreographer-turned-director Remo D’Souza.
In an exclusive interview with ETimes, Abhishek Bachchan opened up about whether he would choose Remo the choreographer or Remo the director. He said, “Remo as a director. He’s very difficult as a choreographer. He does very complicated steps and takes long shots—though not in this film, thankfully. But as a director, he’s wonderful. I think actors would truly understand this. It takes immense talent not to allow your training as a choreographer to influence your direction. A choreographer primarily works within a meter because they have to choreograph to a beat, leaving them with no room for flexibility. It’s a very technical job. But when Remo steps into direction, you don’t see any trace of that. He gives the actor time and space. I don’t remember him ever coming on set and saying, ‘This is my shot, don’t go out of it.’”
He further added, “He lets the actors do what they want and sets up his camera around them, which is the complete opposite of what a choreographer does. A choreographer’s job is highly regimented by nature. It takes immense talent and confidence in your craft as a director to resist leaning on those aspects of your training. And that’s why I say that I’d choose him as a director any day.”
Post Be Happy, Abhishek will be teaming seen in his buddy Tarun Manshukhani’s HOUSEFull 5 where he’s be sharing screen space with Akshay Kumar, Ritiesh Deshmukh, Fardeen khan and many more. He is also reportedly cast as the negative lead in King against Shah rukh khan.
