They veterate actor Raza Murad recently found himself at the centre of a social media storm after a video surfaced showing him drinking during the holy month of Ramzan. The footage led to widespread criticism, with many accusing the actor of disrespecting religious sentiments. However, Murad promptly addressed the backlash, clarifying that the video was taken out of context and was, in fact, a scene from an upcoming film.
The controversy began when a video featuring Raza Murad and fellow actor Kiran Kumar went viral. In the clip, both actors appeared to be celebrating and drinking, leading to assumptions that they were consuming alcohol during Ramadan. Social media users were quick to express their disapproval, questioning the actors’ respect for religious practices.
In response to the uproar, Murad took to social media to set the record straight. He explained that the video was not from a personal celebration but a film shoot in Chhatarpur, Delhi. The scene depicted his character’s birthday celebrationnot his own.
Murad addressed the Misconceptions Directly, Stating in Hindi, “Please, please, please. Clipping hai jo kuchh din pehle chhatarpur, delhi mein shoot hui thi, jahan film mein meri birthday manayi ja rahi hai. Yeh film ka scene hai. Rahi Hai. Film ki shooting ka scene hai aur kuchh bhi nahin. “
Which translates to, “Please, please, please. Don’t think that there is a birthday party of alcohol. This is a clipping of the shooting of an under-production film, which was shot a few days ago in Chatarpur, Delhi, where my birthday is being celebrated in the film. This is the scene of a film. You people are thinking that there is a wine party. My birthday comes on 23rd November, and this is the month of March. Without thinking, you people are thinking that we are drinking alcohol openly during Ramadan, which is absolutely wrong. This is just the shooting scene of the film and nothing else.”
Kiran Kumar, who appeared alongside Murad in the video, also clarified the situation. He shared the clip on his Instagram account with the caption, “Dost jitne purane, yaari utni hi solid! Sometimes when you’re working with friends, reel aur real ke beech ka antar hatt jaata hai.” This translates to, “The older the friendship, the stronger it is! Sometimes, when you’re working with friends, the line between reel and real blurs.”
