Stand-up comedian Samay Raina has shared an important update regarding his upcoming shows in India amid the ongoing controversy surrounding India’s Got Latent. Samay, who had initially scheduled performances across multiple cities, has now cancelled all his shows, despite tickets being sold out through advance bookings.
On Thursday (March 20), Samay took to his Instagram story and announced the rescheduling of his India tour. He wrote, “Hello guys, I am rescheduling my India tour. You all will get the refunds shortly, see you soon.” He also added a red heart and folded hands emoji to his message.

Samay was originally set to perform in Delhi on March 21 and 23 at Talkatora Stadium. His shows in Ahmedabad and Surat were also called off following threats from Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP). Additionally, his performances in Mumbai, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, and Kolkata, scheduled between March and April, have been cancelled.

The controversy began when YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia (aka BeerBiceps) appeared as a special guest on India’s Got Latent and made an inappropriate remark towards a contestant. He asked, “Would you rather watch your parents have sex for the rest of your life or join in once and stop it forever?”
The remark was widely condemned by other panellists, including Apoorva Makhija and Ashish Chanchlani. Though Ranveer quickly apologised, the backlash was severe, leading to multiple FIRs being filed against him and others involved in the show.
Samay had requested time till March 17 to appear before the authorities and record his statement due to prior commitments. However, the Maharashtra Cyber Cell has now issued a third summon, requiring him to appear on March 24 after he failed to comply with an earlier summon on March 19.
Amidst growing pressure, Samay has deleted all episodes of ‘India’s Got Latent’ from his YouTube channel. Addressing the issue, he released a statement:
“Everything that is happening has been too much for me to handle. I have removed all ‘India’s Got Latent’ videos from my channel. My only objective was to make people laugh and have a good time. I will fully cooperate with all agencies to ensure their inquiries are concluded fairly. Thank you.”
