Mohanlal’s much-awaited film, L2E – Empuraan, directed by Prithviraj sukumaranhas created history even before its release. The sequel to Lucifer has set a new benchmark in Malayalam cinemabreaking the box office record previously held by Manjummel boys.
According to the latest data, L2E – Empuraan has amassed a staggering Rs 4.07 crore in total India gross from advance bookings, including blocked seats having sold over 2.60 lakh tickets. Even without considering blocked seats, the estimated advance gross stands at Rs 3.87 crore, nearly surpassing Manjummel Boys’ Rs 3.9 crore opening day earnings purely from advance sales alone. This means L2E – Empuraan has already achieved in advance bookings what Manjummel Boys did on its entire first day.
Though the biggest Malayalam Day opening happens to be Thalapathy Vijay’s Leo: Bloody Sweet which went to collect Rs 12 crore. It would be interesting to see if the sequel to Lucifer can break this record. The biggest day 1 opening for a Malayalam film belongs to Prithviraj for his film The Goat Life which had collected Rs 8.75 crore.
Manjummel Boys emerged as a surprise blockbuster in early 2024 which went on to become the biggest Malayalam hit of all time , achieving record-breaking figures of Rs 141 crore. However, L2E – Empuraan, backed by the power of Mohanlal and Prithviraj has the potential to break that record and set new benchmarks not only in Kerala but across the country.
With such massive numbers already in its favor, industry experts are expecting L2E – Empuraan to register one of the biggest opening days in Malayalam cinema history. As L2E – Empuraan gears up for its grand release, all eyes are on the final opening day numbers, which are expected to set new benchmarks for the Malayalam film industry. Stay tuned for more updates!
