In an interview with SCREEN, Prithviraj stated that Empuraan is “not just all glitz and snazzy shots” but rather “a content-driven film with a deeply layered and coherent narrative”. He shared, “I understand that after having watched the teaser and trailer, most people would be talking about the scale, the visuals, and the technicality. But make no mistake, it’s a content-driven film. It has really layered, coherent narrative driving the film. Without that, we’d have never attempted something like this. This is not all just glitz and snazzy shots.”

In Empuraan, MohanlalPrithviraj, Tovino Thomas, Manju Warrier, and Indrajith will reprise their roles from the first installment of the franchise, Lucifer. The movie also stars Abhimanyu Singh, Jerome Flynn, Eriq Ebouaney, and Suraj Venjaramoodu.

According to the makers, Empuraan has made history by becoming the first Malayalam film to register a worldwide gross of over Rs 80 crore on its opening day. The movie also sold over 1 million tickets in advance on BookMyShow.

Penned by Murali Gopy, the movie is jointly bankrolled by Antony Perumbavoor and Gokulam Gopalan under the banners of Aashirvad Cinemas Pvt Ltd and Sree Gokulam Movies, respectively.
