Salman Khan‘s highly anticipated action film Sikandar now has an official release date. While it was already set for an Eid releasethe makers have confirmed it will hit theaters on March 30. Breaking the usual Friday release trend, Sikandar will arrive on a Sunday instead.
On Wednesday, Salman Khan shared a new poster of the film and wrote in the caption, “See you in theatres worldwide on 30th March! #Sikandar (sic).”

Salman Khan’s Unconventional Release Strategy
This isn’t the first time Salman Khan has opted for an unconventional release strategy. In 2023, Tiger 3 also hit theaters on a Sunday to align with Diwali. However, trade experts debated the move, noting that it meant missing out on the pre-festival weekend’s box office advantage.
Sikandar’s Runtime and Appeal
Director AR Murugadoss has confirmed that Sikandar has a final runtime of approximately 2 hours and 20 minutes, with the first half lasting 1 hour and 15 minutes and the second half 1 hour and 5 minutes. Designed as a mass entertainer, the film aims to appeal to all audiences, including Salman Khan fans, families, and general moviegoers.
In an interview with ETimes, AR Murugadoss shared his experience of working with Salman Khan, describing him as unique. He highlighted the grand scale of Sikandar, mentioning that certain scenes involved 10,000 to 20,000 people on set, requiring extensive security measures and precise coordination.
Why Tiger 3 Released on a Sunday
Rohan Malhotra, VP of Distribution at Yash Raj Films, explained that while conventional release strategies work well, sometimes an unconventional approach benefits the film in the long run. In the case of Tiger 3, the team believed that releasing it on Laxmi Puja day, despite being a weaker opening day, was the right choice.
Tiger 3, featuring Katrina Kaif and Emraan Hashmi alongside Salman Khan, went on to collect over Rs 280 crore at the box office.
Sikandar, directed by AR Murugadoss, features Rashmika mandanna and Kajal Aggarwal alongside Salman Khan. The film is among the most highly anticipated releases of 2025.
