BRS working president KT Rama Rao welcomed the BYD investment and said the $10 billion investment proposal was negotiated and agreed upon way back in 2022-23. He said the proposal was stalled due to foreign policy decisions at the Central govt.
In a statement on Friday, KTR said, “I am glad that the investment is through now due to relaxed rules against Chinese investments by the govt of India. Also, we at BRS can proudly vouch that BYD coming to Telangana is due to our EV & ESS policy. Let me reiterate, Formula E wasn’t just a race; it was a comprehensive plan to make Telangana Mobility Valley the epicentre of India’s EV sector. BYD is the direct result,” he said.
“Congrats to everyone who worked tirelessly for years so that today BYD will set up a plant. Policies do stand the test of time, irrespective of twisted politics,” he further said.
In another statement, the BRS working president demanded the state govt withdraw the decision to sell the land of the University of Hyderabad. He said the Congress govt’s decision to sell 400 acres of land in Kancha Gachibowli will deprive the city of a major lung space.
The CM falsely claimed in the Assembly that there were no animals on that land. “According to the students and faculty, the University of Hyderabad campus is home to over 700 species of flowering plants, 10 species of mammals, 15 species of reptiles, and over 200 species of birds, in addition to rock formations that date back over a billion years,” he said.
“It is unfortunate that the Telangana govt decided to destroy a thriving natural habitat to build high-rise buildings and shopping centres. I urge the Telangana govt to immediately halt this reckless destruction,” he further said.
