Skoda Auto Volkswagen India Private Limited (SAVWIPL) has been named “Top Exporter 2023-2024” by the Mumbai Port Authority. During the fiscal year 2023-2024, SAVWIPL exported over 43,000 vehicles manufactured in India, which were shipped to more than 26 countries across Asia, Africa, and North America.
“Over the years, we have demonstrated our capabilities as a key export hub, and we remain dedicated to strengthening India’s role in the global automotive industry. We extend our gratitude to the port authorities, our dedicated teams, partners, and stakeholders who have made this success possible. As we look ahead, we will continue to explore additional export opportunities while maintaining the momentum into 2025,” said Piyush Aroramanaging director & CEO of SAVWIPL.
Export performance
The group has exported over 6,75,000 vehicles from India. In 2023, the company experienced a 38 per cent year-on-year increase in exports, representing 30 per cent of total production. This growth continued in 2024 with a 20 per cent rise, with exports comprising 40 per cent of local production.
The exported models range from established vehicles like the Volkswagen Vento and Polo to newer models such as the Volkswagen VirtusTaigun, and Škoda Kushaqaq.
SAVWIPL’s export strategy also extends to parts and components. The company exports these items from its Parts Expedition Centre in Pune to Vietnam to support vehicle assembly there.
