Sanjay leela bhansali‘s shelved film, Inshallahwhich was to feature Salman Khan and Alia Bhattfocused on a love story between a 40-year-old businessman and a young aspiring actress in her 20s. However, the project was dropped just before filming reportedly due to creative differences between Bhansali and Salman.
Alia Bhatt on the Status of Inshallah
In a chat with The Lallantop, Alia was asked about the film’s current status. Interestingly, after Inshallah was shelved, Bhansali cast Alia in his period film Gangubai Kathiawadi.
Looking Forward to Love and War
Alia mentioned that she is working on another film with the filmmaker titled Love and War, and expressed her hope that it gets made someday, calling it a beautiful love story. When the anchor jokingly suggested that the hero might need to be replaced due to the reported creative differences with Bhansali, Alia smiled and said that whatever decision Bhansali makes would be the right one for the film.
Bhansali Recalls Alia’s Emotional Reaction
In another interview with The Hollywood Reporter India, Bhansali shared how Alia reacted when Inshallah was suddenly shelved. He said she was emotional and deeply affected by the news. A week later, he called her and offered her the lead role in Gangubai Kathiawadi. At first, Alia was unsure about playing such a different character, as she had prepared for a completely different role. Bhansali reassured her by saying he saw strength in her and believed she could bring the character to life based on her inner conviction and personality.
Alia was also asked about the status of her long-delayed road-trip film Jee le zaraawhich stars Priyanka chopra and Katrina Kaif alongside her. She shared that the film still doesn’t have a confirmed shooting schedule at the moment.
Alia Remains Hopeful About the Road-Trip Drama
Alia confirmed that Jee Le Zaraa is definitely going to happen, as everyone involved is eager to make it work. The main issue has been aligning everyone’s schedules. She believes that with the right intention, the film will come together. The film is written by Zoya Akhtar, Farhan Akhtar, and Reema Kagti, with Farhan also directing.
Alia is currently seen in the prison-break action film Jigra, which hit theatres on October 11. Directed by Vasan Bala and produced by Karan joharthe movie received mixed reviews from audiences and critics. Its performance at the box office has been below expectations.
Next, Alia will appear in Alpha, part of YRF’s spy universe. This action film also stars Sharvari and is set to release next December. Meanwhile, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love and War, which features Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal alongside Alia, is expected to begin filming soon.
