Carrying the legendary Amrish Puri’s name is both a blessing and a responsibility. But for Vardhaan Puriit’s not about living in his iconic grandfather’s shadow—it’s about shining his own light. In an exclusive chat with ETimes, the young actor opens up about legacyindividuality, and his undying love for cinema.
Balancing Legacy and Individuality
When asked how does he balance honouring his family’s legacy while establishing his own identity as an actor, Vardhaan said, “Being my Dadu’s grandson comes with its own set of expectations, but I don’t like to take pressure. When you carry too much weight on your back, it’s difficult to walk, run, or fly. I want to carve my own path, and I believe that is what will make my grandfather proud.”A Personal Connection to Amrish Puri
He further added, “He is my God, my guru, and my ultimate inspiration. However, I never want to mimic him in any way—I want to be an original because I know how much originality meant to him. Even today, wherever he is in the heavens, I want him to look down and be proud of me for being my own person.”
A Vision for the Future
“My goal is to create my own identity as an actor and storyteller. When I’m gone, I want the world to remember me as someone who made a difference in cinema. I was born for cinema, and I will die for cinema”, he concluded.
On the work front, Vardhaan was last seen in ‘Bobby aur rishi ki love story‘. The film released on OTT platform and has been receiving heartwarming response from the audience.
