British-Indian entrepreneur Lord Karan Bilimoria on Tuesday said India allows all communities to flourish. He added that there is no limit to what any minority can achieve in India and the opportunity is there for everybody.
“I can only say from my own experience that there is no limit to what any minority can achieve in India and the opportunity is there for everybody,” Bilimoria said while speaking at the News18 Rising Bharat Summit 2025.
He said India allows all communities to flourish.
“In you look at demography and diversity in India… I am a Zoroastrian Parsi… There are more than 1.4 billion people in India and there are only 100,000 Parsis in the whole world. I have released a book written by my cousin, The Parsis of Delhi. Do you know that at no point, there have been more than 800 Parsis in Delhi. Today, the population is 33 million. Such a little community has produced chiefs of Army, Navy, Air Force, MPs, the Tata group… India allows everyone to flourish,” Bilimoria said.
Puneet Chhatwal, MD and CEO of the Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL), said, “The first Tata Hotel of India was set up by the founder Jamsetji Tata in 1903, which we call the Temple of Hospitality.”
‘India Has Robust Democracy, Its Diversity Is A Strength’
“People are beginning to appreciate is why is India, this giant country, powering ahead so resilient when everything around it is falling apart. There are two reasons for this. One, India’s democracy has shown itself rock solid resilient. The Indian armed forces, my father the Late General Bilimoria was a commander-in-chief of the central army, has never ever interfered in politics. There is no chance ever of a coup in India. So, you got a strong armed forces and strong robust democracy. Second, India is the most diverse country in the world by far. That diversity of religion, of race, of terrain, of language, give India its biggest strength,” Lord Karan Bilimoria said.
‘World Has Woken Up To India’
“Without a doubt, the world has woken up to India. If you back to when the liberalisation started in 1991, it actually took a decade. It’s only from 2002 onwards that the Indian economy actually started to rocket almost reaching double digit growth per year. We have not looked back since then. Today, India is the fastest-growing major economy in the world at over 6 per cent growth… It’s phenomenal,” he said.
He added that and based on his prediction, it’s only a matter of time before India overtakes China economically as well. “By 2060, I believe India will emerge as the largest economy in the world.”
