Sharmila Tagore has returned to Bengali films with ‘Puratawn’, released on April 11. It marks her first Bengali movie in 14 years and has received glowing reviews. In a conversation with Anandabazar Patrika.com on YouTube, the actress talked about her grandchildren, Sara Ali Khan and Ibrahim Ali Khanand their growing presence in Bollywood.
Proud of Grandchildren’s Progress
The actress expressed pride in her grandchildren’s progress, saying, “Sara and Ibrahim are doing a wonderful job.” However, she candidly gave honest review to Ibrahim’s Bollywood debut, ‘Nadaaniyan’, stating, “Ibrahim’s film was not good, but he still looks very handsome. He has tried his best. These things shouldn’t really be said in front of everyone, but honestly, the picture isn’t great. Ultimately, the picture has to be good.”
Praise for Sara Ali Khan
She further added, “Sara is a good actress. She works very hard and is capable of doing a lot more. She’ll also achieve that”.
Possible Final Bengali Film
In an interview with PTI, Sharmila disclosed that ‘Puratawn’ might be her last Bengali film. She expressed her affection for Bengali cinema and Kolkata but admitted that her health issues have affected her fitness, making it difficult to meet the physical demands of acting in shoots.
