Sunny Deol’s Jaat, which was released in the theatres on April 10, managed its steady run at the box office. While the action thriller began with less than Rs. 10 crores in opening day collection in the domestic market, the movie hasn’t lost its momentum so far. On its second Friday (April 18), Jaat earned only Rs. 4.25 crores, marking a slow and steady start to the movie’s second weekend, according to a report by Sacnilk. So far, the film, produced under the banner of Mythri Movie Makers, stands at Rs. 65.9 crore.
HELMED BY Gopichand Malineni, You has been facing intense competition from Salman Khan’s Sikandar which was released on Eid (March 30). Despite the struggle, Deol’s action thriller had an overall 15.21% Hindi Occupancy on Good Friday, an undeniable response from his fans and moviebuffs.
Sunny Deol’s movie however continues to navigate through challenges optimistically. A few hours ago, Taran Adarsh discussed the movie’s optimistic outlook on its box office performances in an explanatory post on Instagram. Sharing a daring photo of the actor, the film business analyst penned, “#Jaat posts a respectable total in its *extended* Week 1… The single screens as well as non-national multiplexes across mass belts have delivered healthy returns… The trending on weekdays is a big plus.”
Taran Adarsh not only highlighted its week 1 collection but also spoke about Jaat’s new competition from Akshay Kumar’s Kesari 2, which hit the theatres on April 18 after much anticipation. He continued, “From today, #Jaat faces fresh competition from #KesariChapter2… However, the silver lining is that both films belong to entirely different genres,” adding, “The #GoodFriday holiday [today] is also expected to give #Jaat a further boost, especially in single screens and mass-dominated circuits.”
The Gadar actor has already embarked on a “bigger, bolder and wilder” mission in his professional career. The film makers of Jaat have announced its sequence in a post on X, writing, “#JAAT is not resting after the blockbuster at the box office. He is on to a new mission. This time, the MASS FEAST will be bigger, bolder, and wilder #JAAT2.”
Jaat stars Deol in the role of a stranger traveller who fights against criminal Varadaraja Ranatunga (played by Randeep Hooda), known for terrorising the villagers. The movie also features Vineet Kumar Singh and Saiyami Kher in key roles.
