Hyderabad: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Tuesday registered a case against Syed Munvar Basha, Divisional Operations Manager (DOM) at the office of Principal Chief Operations Manager, South Central Railway (SCR) in Secunderabad in connection with a bribe case.
The case was booked based on a complaint received from Deputy Chief Vigilance Officer Team (CVO/T) and Railway Protection Force/Security Commissionerate (RPF/SC) Vigilance Branch, SCR Secunderabad alleging that Basha demanded bribe for selecting candidates for the posts of Traffic Inspectors and Chief Controllers in the Operating Department at the SCR Headquarters.
It was further alleged that Basha received the bribe totaling Rs.1.25 lakh into his son’s bank account by way of UPI transfers from four candidates and Rs.40,000 in cash during July and August 2023 from one candidate.
It was also alleged that he was in receipt of a total amount of Rs.31.62 lakh through suspicious transactions into his account and his son’s account, which were beyond his sources. Searches were also conducted by CBI at the premises of Basha at two places in Solapur and one place each in Hyderabad and Guntakal leading to recovery of some incriminating documents.
