Bengaluru: Over reported slogan shouting ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ by a person in Mangaluru leading to lynching on Monday, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah stated “Anybody speaking in favour of Pakistan (on this soil) is not only wrong but amounts to treason.”
On April 28, a person identified as Ashraf, a resident of Pulpally in Wyanad of Kerala, alleged to have been a victim of mob lynching incident in Mangaluru over him alleged raising ‘pro-Pakistan’ slogan during a cricket match. Later, his body was discovered near a temple in Kudupu, about 10-km from Mangaluru city. Ashraf was working as a manual labourer in Mangaluru
“If pro-Pakistan slogan shouting is true, then it is wrong (on his part). Let it be anybody,” Chief Minister told reporters in Bengaluru when he was queried over the lynching a person over pro-Pakistan slogan shouting in Mangaluru. Investigations are going on over the lynching incident in Mangaluru and action will be initiated against the erring person based on the report. As of now, a First Information Report (FIR) has been filed against the accused persons.
In Bengaluru, Minister of Home Dr G. Parameshwar said during interrogation the accused persons have told the police about reported pro-Pakistan slogan shouting and 20 persons have been arrested and police are checking their background.
Investigations are going on. Police are gathering details over mob lynching in Mangaluru from persons gathered at the cricket match venue and yet to ascertain whether slogan shouting in favour of Pakistan is true, said the Home Minister.
“I’m expecting a detailed report on mob lynching,” he said and stated “Police have taken-up the case in a serious manner.
