Raipur: Chhattisgarh chief minister Vishnu Deo Sai on Wednesday slammed his Telangana counterpart A Revanth Reddy for purportedly saying that ‘Adivasis are being murdered’ while referring to anti-Naxal operations.
“I condemn Telangana CM’s statement in which he said that adivasis are being murdered. We have been urging Naxals to surrender and join the mainstream. We have seen the results with many Naxals surrendering”, Mr. Sai told reporters here.
He said it is not appropriate for Mr. Reddy to describe Maoists as tribals and say that the tribals were being murdered when Maoists were gunned down in anti-Naxal operations.
Maoists are killing innocent tribals and security personnel and derailing the development process, he added.
He said his government has undertaken a slew of measures for rehabilitation and development of the surrendered Naxals.
“We got 15,000 houses sanctioned under Prime Minister Awas Yojana for the surrendered Naxals”, he said.
Referring to the recent initiative taken by the peace talk committee at Hyderabad to hold a dialogue between Maoists and the Union government, Mr. Sai said, “Having peace talks again and again makes no sense”.
His government has already declared that it is ready to hold dialogues with Maoists to bring lasting peace in the Leftwing extremism-hit regions like Bastar in the state, he said.
The peace committee leaders, Justice Chandrakumar, Professor Hara Gopal, Professor Anwar Khan, Durga Prasad, Jampanna, and Ravi Chander met the Telangana chief minister at Hyderabad on Sunday and urged him to facilitate a dialogue between the Union government and the Maoists.
