“Nowadays I attend parties just for five minutes. Everybody knows this. Khud ki parties mein I have to stay, but of late, I have stopped throwing parties,” says Karan Johar. His explanation – “Mujhe logon se itna nahi milna” (I’m not too keen on meeting people).
So, why this change? The filmmaker, known to be quite the party animal earlier, said on a podcast that he’s actually content to meet just his close circle of friends. He is comfortable hosting them in his house and visiting them in theirs. The big industry parties don’t excite him. However, he put “immense effort” into making people believe that he’s “a sociable, affable, accessible sort of person.” But now, he is no longer able to keep up the act. “I have suddenly changed,” said Karan. “And I can’t be sitting in a corner at a party. I have never had that kind of a personality. I have been a social, talkative, laughing, joking, warm person at parties in the past. So I don’t wish to be a different sort of person at gatherings now,” he explained.
