Vijayawada: Chief Secretary K Vijayanand has said Andhra Pradesh is set to achieve a Guinness World Record by assembling five lakh participants for the 11th International Yoga Day celebrations in Visakhapatnam, and two crore across the state, on June 21 in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
“We are aiming at this high number so that no one ever can surpass this in future,” he said.
On Friday, the chief secretary reviewed the arrangements of Yoga Andhra-2025 with secretaries of various departments at the secretariat in Velagapudi.
The CS said appropriate arrangements should be made so that at least two crore people participate in the international yoga day events across the state and at least 5 lakhin Visakhapatnam –from the Ramakrishna Beach to Bhimili, a length of 26km. “No one can surpass this record in the near future.”
Vijayanand said that a set of ministers would meet on June 3 to review the arrangements. Officers and secretaries assigned to various tasks have been asked to submit preliminary reports by June 2. Special chief secretary to Health, Krishna Babu, would be the nodal officer at the state level to supervise the arrangements. Vijayanand asked collectors to appoint a nodal officer for each district.
Krishna Babu said efforts are being made to provide yoga participation certificates to about 20 lakh people.
DGP Harish Gupta said a sub-command control centre should be set up every four to five km in Visakhapatnam in addition to the main command control centre. “Soon, we will inspect the Visakhapatnam main venue area through AI tools, CCTV cameras and drones and make a preliminary assessment along with the police, revenue and other departments.”
