Passing showers and scattered thunderstorms are expected in the D.C. region Saturday afternoon.
WTOP Meteorologist Mike Stinneford said the heavy rain will likely continue through the evening.
“These storms could produce damaging winds and some large hail,” Stinneford said.
Stinneford said lightning and even hail were possible — but unlikely — Saturday evening.
The storms and humidity are expected to clear around sunset clear, and overnight temperatures will drop to unseasonably low readings.
But the end is in sight.
“(It will be) a beautiful day on Sunday,” Stinneford said. “Lots of sunshine, pleasant, (and) low humidity.”

For the time being, a wind advisory is in effect at the Bay Bridge Saturday morning, the Maryland Transportation Authority said in a post on X.
BGE reported dozens of power outages in Howard and Anne Arundel counties. Most of the 900 outages Saturday morning were in the Baltimore area.
In Northern Virginia, Dominion Energy reported over 1,500 customers out of power in Fairfax County and surrounding areas.
As for Pepco, the utility company reported an additional 200 customers were in the dark in the District.
