These two are the current top guns in men’s tennis and yet, this is the first time they are facing each other in the final of a Grand Slam. Alcaraz is chasing his fifth Major title, and a second consecutive one at Roland Garros. Sinner, on the other hand, is chasing his fourth, and a third consecutive Grand Slam title, having won the Australian Open earlier this year and the 2024 US Open.
Sinner is currently World No.1, Alcaraz is World No.2 – this is literally a clash of the two best players in the world. The former has won 18 consecutive sets, dropping serve only twice, and often dispatching opponents with such ease that they celebrate just for winning one game. On the other hand, Alcaraz has won each of his last four matches against the Italian. Sinner’s play from the back of the court has been too much to handle for everyone, including the legendary Novak Djokovic whom he beat in the semi-final. However, Alcaraz’s arguably superior forehand has helped him beat that very aspect of Sinner’s play in the past. It remains to be seen, though, if that continues to be the case on Sunday.
