The company provides Electronic Stability Program+ (ESP) as a standard feature across all variants of its 18 models, a move it states is ahead of current regulatory requirements.Maruti Suzuki India Limited has received a 5-star safety rating for its All-New Dzire under the Bharat New Car Assessment Program (Bharat ncap). The rating was presented by Nitin Gadkari, Minister of Road Transport and Highways. Another model, the Baleno, received a 4-star rating under the same testing programme.
The new Dzire and the new Baleno are built on Suzuki’s 5th generation HEARTECT platform and are equipped with several active and passive safety features.
Safety commitment and feature expansion
Maruti Suzuki announced its plan to equip all its passenger vehicles with six airbags as a standard feature across all variants within the year. Currently, the company offers ten models with six airbags, including the Alto K10, Celerio, WagonR, Eeco, Swift, Dzire, Brezza, Grand Vitara, Jimny and Invicto.

This programme incorporates rigorous and comprehensive testing and evaluation standards that are comparable with global safety protocols. It is aimed at raising safety awareness among customers in the country.”
He added, “I am also pleased to see that Maruti Suzuki has fast-paced adoption of 6 airbags as standard across all variants of models covering all segments. Six airbags from an entry hatchback to a premium SUV is a significant stride by Maruti Suzuki towards vehicle safety. I am sure this will encourage other manufacturers to make 6 airbags a standard feature across all variants of their models.”
