Mercedes-Benz has issued recalls for the EQS sedan, GLC, AMG SL 55 and S-Class models over a potential fire risk. This is the sixth voluntary recall so far this year from the luxury car manufacturer, affecting a total of 30 units, as per the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM). Reportedly, nearly 93,000 Mercedes models have been recalled in the US this week alone.
- Issue pertains to the fuse box in the affected models
- Risk of a crash and injuries also noted in the listing
Mercedes June 2025 recall in India details
16 EQS sedans, 9 S Class units affected
“It has been identified that the fuse boxes might not have been reworked correctly. As a result, systems connected to the fuse might fail, and the vehicle might lose its propulsion without prior warning, and the restraint functions or the instrument cluster might also be impaired, increasing the risk of a crash and injuries. Under such specific circumstances, a potential risk of a thermal incident in the vehicle cannot be excluded,” noted the recall listing on SIAM’s website.
A total of 16 EQS sedans have been hit by this issue, followed by nine S-Class (including Maybach), three GLCs and two AMG SLs. As is usually the case, Mercedes is expected to contact the owners of the affected units to schedule an appointment and fix the issue free of cost.

Calls made over potential fire risk, software gltich in the ECU
Interestingly, recalls dated March 12 and 29 were over a similar fire risk. The rest were over issues like a software glitch in the ECU and a missing warning label regarding the automatic front passenger airbag shutoff. The unusually high number of recalls just midway through the year is surprising for a luxury brand like Mercedes-Benz.
