Mangaluru: In an incident of moral policing, a minor boy was allegedly threatened by a person for speaking to a girl of a different religion at the Vitla private bus stand, about 40 km from Mangaluru.
The incident occurred on Tuesday evening.
According to police, the boy was speaking to his school classmate at the Vitla bus stand when Padmaraj, a resident of Enmakaje in Manjeshwar approached and objected to their interaction, allegedly on personal or communal grounds, and issued threats before leaving.
The boy’s family filed a complaint, following which a case was registered at Vitla Police Station under Sections 126(2), 352, 351(3), and 196(1)(a) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023. The accused has been taken into custody.
