VinFast Auto India, the Indian arm of global electric vehicle major VinFast, has officially onboarded its first cohort of 200 locally recruited professionals at its upcoming electric vehicle manufacturing Facility in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu. The move marks a significant milestone in the company’s India strategy, with the plant expected to generate employment for up to 3,500 professionals over the next five years, aligned with phased production ramp-up.
What does it include?
The induction programme, conducted in partnership with the Government of Tamil Nadu’s Naan Mudhalvan Skilling Initiativeis aimed at equipping new recruits with globally benchmarked automotive skills. The programme is being delivered under the guidance of Vietnamese experts and seasoned Indian professionals to ensure international manufacturing standards are upheld.
The initiative is further supported by Guidance Tamil Nadu’s WorkLabs Cell, which facilitates industry-academia collaborations. With active participation from the District Collector’s Office, polytechnic institutions, and VinFast’s senior leadership, the training and recruitment process has been designed to create a robust talent pipeline from local communities.
Vinfast’s Thoothukudi Plant
VinFast’s Thoothukudi plant, with a planned annual production capacity of 150,000 vehicles, is a key part of its Asia growth strategy. The company is also preparing to launch its VF 6 and VF 7 electric SUVs in India, alongside plans to establish a widespread dealership network and EV infrastructure.
