Cruise control on the 125 cc commuter motorcycle? A feature usually seen on premium motorcycle is likely to make its presence on a commuter motorcycle soon. First up, is the new LCD display that seems to be borrowed from the recently launched Xtreme 250R but with different layout packing less information. However, the main highlight is the right switchgear block, wherein a cruise control switch-set is present, suggesting that a commuter motorcycle is likely to get cruise control feature. Hero will be the first manufacturer to offer this feature on low displacement motorcycles. However, it will be critical for Hero to work around on the indefinite price hike that will come with the cruise control function. If executed correctly, it could mean other brands eventually offering the cruise control features. Currently, the most affordable motorcycle in the Indian market to feature cruise control is the TVS Apache RTR 310 followed by its faired sibling the Apache RR 310.

Furthermore, it is interesting to think of a commuter motorcycle to get a cruise control function. Big capacity motorcycles often come with this function owing to the long-distance journeys done with them. However, in India, the two-wheeler commuter segment contributes to majority of the two-wheelers plying on the road, from metro cities to villages and everything in-between. That said, it seems to be a thoughtful approach by Hero to consider this feature for commuter bikes.
Currently, Hero offers the Glamour 125 in two variants, Standard and Xtec, with prices ranging from Rs. 87,000 and Rs. 90,498 (both ex-showroom, Delhi), respectively. We expect Hero will launch the updated Glamour 125 around the festive season this year.
