Some of the boots on this list are almost double the size of the one seen on the Honda Activa’s.
Scooters are inherently very practical and a large part of that comes down to the underseat storage space. Electric scooters are even more so, due to the tighter packaging allowed due to their tree-hugging powertrain. To give you an idea of just how big the storage area on some of today’s electric scooters are, we have compiled a list of the 5 largest boots on an electric scooter in the Indian market today. Just for reference, India’s bestselling scooter – the ubiquitous Honda Activa – has an 18 litre underseat storage area.
5. Gen 3 Ola S1 lineup
34 litres

With the move to the Gen 2 platform, all of Ola’s electric scooter lineup has the same 34 litre boot capacity. This has continued with the Gen 3 models as well. However, this number is marginally down on the Gen 1 Ola models that had a marginally bigger 36 litre boot capacity.

4. Ather Rizta
34 litres

Now you might argue that since the Rizta and the Gen 2 Ola models have the same capacity, the Ather should be tied with Ola for third place. However, the Ola scooters have a shallower boot which means you can’t close the seat with with a full-face helmet in the boot where with the Ather Rizta’s deeper storage area you can. The Ather also has a small cubby just aft of the boot where you can comfortably store knick-knacks like your smartphone, wallet, etc. In our opinion, it is this attention to detail that tilts the scales in the Ather’s favour.

Currently, the Chetak lineup consists of the 3001, 3501, 3502 and 3503. If these variants sound like a random mix of numbers to you, then you’re definetly not the only one. Kinetic Green gave the iconic DX a modern makeover. The DX is a modern-day EV tribute to the original Kinetic Honda DX that became a household name in the late ‘80s and early ‘90s. It gets 37 litres of underseat storage and there’s also a hidden under-boot compartment for small items and a USB charging port under the seat. It is available in two variants DX and DX+.
1. River Indie
43 litres

The saying “there’s no replacement for displacement” comes to mind when speaking of the Indie’s cavernous 43 litre storage area. This is the largest storage space on any Indian electric scooter bar none. The practicality-first Indie also has a pair of panniers and a top box available as an accessory, that will further increase storage capacity.

TVS iQube
32 litres

When the iQube first launched the two variants on sale had only 17 litres of underseat storage space. TVS has now reprofiled the boots of all the variants of the popular e-scooter (except the base iQube 2.2kWh) to increase capacity to a healthy 32 litres. The base iQube 2.2 has a marginally smaller boot volume at 30 litres. It is worth mentioning that TVS has recently slashed prices of the iQube by upto Rs 26,000.

Simple One
30 litres

The Simple One’s 30 litre boot is not small by any yard-stick. While the Simple One is not as popular or well-known as the other entrants on this list, it does have a 30 litre boot which earns it an honourable mention.
