The Yamaha FZ‑S Fi Hybrid builds on the long-running FZ’s reputation for smooth, reliable commuting and muscular styling. While it doesn’t aim to boost performance, it brings improved efficiency and a notable tech upgrade.
Reasons to buy the Yamaha FZ‑S Fi Hybrid
1. Rich in tech
The 2025 FZ‑S Fi Hybrid is India’s first hybrid motorcycle in the 150cc class, equipped with a Smart Motor Generator (SMG) enabling silent starts and auto start‑stop at idle. Paired with a crisp 4.2‑inch full‑colour TFT display that offers Bluetooth via Yamaha’s Y‑Connect app, turn‑by‑turn navigation, call/SMS alerts, etc., it significantly upgrades the feature list over other FZ variants.
2. Excellent fuel efficiency
Our fuel‑economy tests results were 51.64 kpl in the city and 48.20 kpl on the highway, thanks in large part to the start‑stop system and mild‑hybrid tech. With a 13‑litre tank, the bike can comfortably manage over 500km in real‑world conditions.
3. Comfortable and refined
The FZ‑S continues to impress with its well-padded seat, upright and relaxed riding posture, and friendly ergonomics that suit a wide range of riders. The engine is refined, clutch action is light, and gearshifts are smooth—qualities that make this an excellent everyday partner for traffic-heavy cities.
Reasons not to buy the Yamaha FZ‑S Fi Hybrid
1. Underwhelming performance
Performance is carried over unchanged from the standard FZ‑S—12.4hp at 7,250rpm and 13.3Nm at 5,500rpm—with no noticeable gain from the hybrid assist. In real‑world riding, it feels more like a quick 125cc than a proper 150/160cc bike—power delivery is smooth but uninspiring beyond 80 km/h.
2. Expensive
Priced at Rs 1.45 lakh (ex‑showroom, Delhi), it costs about Rs 10,000 more than the standard FZ‑S, but rivals like Pulsar N160 and TVS Apache RTR 160 4V which offer better performance, USD forks, and dual‑channel ABS at similar or lower prices. While the FZ‑S Hybrid does include traction control, it still has only single‑channel ABS—something that feels mismatched to the premium pricing.
