Hyundai Motor India is set to begin vehicle production at its new Talegaon facility in Pune in the third quarter of FY26, the company said in its FY25 annual report.
“This facility will increase our total annual production capacity across both plants to 994,000 units, with a further rise to 1,074,000 units upon full-scale operations at Talegaon,” the company stated.
It noted that while car production is still a few quarters away, engine manufacturing is already underway at the plant, with an annual capacity of 1.5 lakh units.
“Once the vehicle assembly lines are fully operational, Hyundai’s total production capacity across its Chennai and Pune facilities will climb to over 1.07 million units a year — up from the current 824,000 units,” the firm added.
The Talegaon plant is being positioned as a key base for Hyundai’s SUV and EV plans, with a focus on lean manufacturing, automation and higher localisation. The added capacity is expected to cater to rising domestic demand and support exports.
