Hyderabad: Popular film actor Vijay Devarakonda here on Wednesday appeared before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with illegal betting apps case.
Responding to summons issued to him in the case related to promotion of betting apps, Vijay Devarakonda appeared before the ED at its office in Basheerbagh. The sleuths of ED are expected to grill the film actor about his financial transactions and bank details during questioning.
He was among the 29 celebrities against whom the ED registered a case for promoting illegal betting apps. The premier investigating agency already filed an Enforcement Case Information Report (ECIR) against 29 actors, influencers, and Youtubers for allegedly promoting illegal betting platforms, in violation of the Public Gambling Act-1867.
The ED took up the investigation under provisions of Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) based on FIRs used by Telangana police.
