Synopsis

“Thokai” is a dark comedy about Lila and Sampurai, two troublemakers who have failed Class VIII five times and are expelled for constantly cheating. Desperate for money, they see a job notice for a reporter and cameraman and start their own YouTube news channel. Instead of real journalism, they exploit poor people, pocketing donations meant for them, and thrive on spreading sensational and false stories.
Their greed turns dangerous when Lila tries to blackmail a student, threatening to post a fake video accusing him of using drugs. When the student can’t pay, Lila uploads the video, causing the boy to be disowned by his father, expelled from his hostel, and driven to suicide. Police soon crack down on Lila and Sampurai, exposing the cost of their fake news empire.
