Kakinada:Weavers in Kakinada took out a massive rally in the city on Monday, weaving a 100-feet sari and writing on it as ‘Thank You CM Sir’ – in a demonstration of their gratitude to Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu for his grant of up to 500 units of free-power to their units.
They performed an abhishekam with milk to the photo of Naidu and offered poojas to “weaving looms’’ as part of the rally.
Participating in the programme, Kakinada MLA Vanamadi Venkateswara Rao (Kondababu) said the alliance government is providing 200 units of electricity free of cost to handlooms and up to 500 units for “weaving looms’’.
He said that the birth anniversary of the weavers’ revolutionary leader Pragada Kotaiah’s is being celebrated by the state government and installation of a Kotaiah statue was proposed at the Mangalagiri Nethanna Centre.
The all India weavers federation national executive member Pappu Durga Ramesh, Kakinada city Padmasali welfare association president Vinjamuri Venkata Subba Rao and others were present.
