Several districts in Telangana, including Warangal, Hanmakonda, Suryapet, and Yadadri witnessed intense overnight rainfall, with several areas recording between 150 mm and 200 mm, according to weather trackers.
The downpour, described as “massive” by Telangana Weatherman, is expected to continue in parts of northern Telangana. Heavy rains are likely to persist in Hanmakonda, Warangal, Mulugu, and Bhupalapally for the next two hours. Moderate showers are forecast in Nalgonda, Wanaparthy, Nagarkurnool, Mahabubnagar, Vikarabad, Narayanpet, and Sangareddy during the same period, while Hyderabad can expect light drizzles.
The ongoing spell has been attributed to a low-pressure area (LPA) over the region. Originally expected to affect Telangana between August 14 and 17, the system’s impact has now been advanced to August 12–16 due to rapid intensification of favourable weather conditions.
